The EcoInnovation Cluster, which targets ecotechnologies and sustainable development in Luxembourg, was officially launched on 17 February 2009.
Within the framework of the new governance approach, the cluster has set up a steering committee of 18 representatives of private companies as well as public and private research institutes and organisations.
During 2010, Luxinnovation’s activities for the EcoInnovation Cluster can be resumed as follows:
- Strengthening of the activities of the steering committee and development of an action plan for the EcoInnovation Cluster orientated towards the identification and establishment of collaboration projects
- Finalisation of a cartography of all public and private actors in the ecotechnologies field: 187 private companies and 28 public actors have thus been listed and categorised by activity of research field
- Establishment of a working group on the sustainable urbanism pilot project in Dudelange (the “Nei Schmelz” project)
- Co-organisation of a transborder symposium on sustainable construction in Charleville-Mézières (France) with approximately 130 participants from the Greater Region
- Co-organisation of a conference on the new law on public support for promoting ecotechnologies and sustainable development in Luxembourg enterprises with approximately 350 participants
- Co-organisation of a symposium on eco-conception and support to an ERDF project on the integration of eco-conception in five Luxembourg companies with CRP Henri Tudor
- Co-organisation of a transborder workshop on the state of the art in biogas in the Greater Region and experience sharing with the Walloon Tweed Cluster and CRP Gabriel Lippmann in the context of the Luxinnovation Forum “Business meets Research” with around 100 participants
- Organisation of the presence of the Cluster President and the Cluster Manager at the Luxembourg Commercial Week at the World Expo in Shanghai with a presentation of the cluster and the “Nei Schmelz” project before around 100 Chinese participants
- Production of a promotional film on the “Nei Schmelz” project
- Management of a working group on the energy management theme “Energy Efficient Building” with the follow-up of an operational project on energy renovation of a pilot building in Strassen
- Two new publications were made available to companies:A catalogue of technology offers and demands in the environment and energy sector
- Governmental financial aides in the field of environment and innovation
- Establishment of contacts between the University of Luxembourg and the company LEE sàrl concerning a collaboration project in the biomass field
- Publication of a website and other promotional tools adapted to the “corporate image” of the clusters
In 2010, Luxinnovation disseminated 42 technology offers and requests
to actors in the ecotechnologeis and sustainable development sector with 24 expressions of interest
and 19 contacts initiated
